Our Story
We are proud to share the journey of the United Comedy Academy (UCA), founded by Sharla Hale in the midst of the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, Sharla began hosting free workshops across Colorado Springs, realizing the profound need for community connection through laughter and creativity.
Partnering with the local 3E's Comedy Club, UCA grew to offer Long-Form 6 Week Classes and events showcasing the students, encouraging residents of Colorado Springs to step out of their comfort zones and embrace the joy of improv. Now, with a new home in Wichita, Sharla is excited to expand our offerings to include classes for kids of all ages, fostering a love for comedy in the next generation.
Sharla’s diverse background includes a BA in Theatre from Georgia Southern University, a transformative experience teaching English in Hong Kong, and extensive training in the heart of Chicago's improv scene. Her journey has been an inspiring testament to the power of creativity and community.
