The Mission
The United Comedy Academy is dedicated to uniting humans by harnessing creativity and laughter through improv training, live comedy, and educational programs for people of all ages in Wichita and beyond.
The United Comedy Academy believes in uniting others on and off stage through the art form of improvisation. Audiences will be inspired by the student's harmonious play, in the moment creation, and unscripted story telling. This educational program allows locals in Wichita Kansas to try improv, practice improv, and ultimately perform improv in front of a live audience who also play a part of the performance as their suggestions inspire the show. UCA is designed to allow any person at any level of experience to join in and eventually become experienced enough to lead and encourage novices into the fold. Through learning the tools and rules of improvisation, students not only connect with their selves but are encouraged to build something bigger than self on stage, in the moment, never to be created the exact same ever again.
About
Sharla Hale - Founder and Artistic Director
I have studied, performed, and taught improv for more than 15 years in Hong Kong, Chicago, and Colorado Springs. Improv is an artform I cannot quit, it is my therapy. I hope to encourage adults and children in Wichita to give it a try and see what it can do for you.
I focus on long-form improv, faced paced play, building confidence through performing, and using the power of teamwork to create unique moments, all completely made up on the spot.
I can't wait to meet you!
